Uganda safaris: gorillas, chimpanzees and the source of the Nile

Uganda fits an unusual amount into one compact country. You can trek mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or Mgahinga, track chimpanzees in Kibale, and go on game drives in Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls and Kidepo Valley. The itineraries below range from short primate-focused trips to longer circuits that add savannah wildlife and the Rwenzori Mountains.

Gorilla and chimpanzee tracking runs all year, but the drier months, June to September and December to February, make for easier trails. Every itinerary is a starting point rather than a fixed package: we adjust parks, pace, lodges and dates, and we arrange the permits that gorilla and chimp trekking require.
